Logitech Cordless Desktop EX100

Everyone likes convenience. In this case, "convenience" comes in the form of a wireless keyboard and mouse.

For the past two months I was in the market for a cheap, reliable wireless keyboard and mouse setup. I came across one online for quite the deal! Once it arrived and I set it up, I was met with much disappointment when the keyboard had trouble communicating with the receiver (I'll save this for another blog).

While doing some shopping at Target, I happened upon what appeared to be exactly what I was looking for. The Logitech EX100. It was only $30 bucks!

I've been using it for sometime now and have only experienced good things. It even comes with batteries to get you up and going right out of the box.

The keyboard is light weight and medium sized. A bit smaller than what I'm used to since I have big hands, but I adjusted with no problem. The box also states that it's "Spill-Resistant".

The mouse is a standard sized mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel (which also serves as a 3rd button). The mouse is a bit heavier than I'm used to given that it requires 2 AA batteries, but you get used to it.

The awesome thing that I've noticed from my own personal use with the mouse, is that it's pretty durable. My apartment has wood floors, and I've dropped this mouse about 4 times. It still works just fine!

Overall, I would say this is a great buy for $30. It's cheap, and it works. You may want to be aware of a couple of things though:

1. Since this is a low end wireless mouse and keyboard, it only has a functional distance of about 5 - 6ft from it's receiver.

2. The mouse and keyboard use two different sized batteries. The keyboard takes 2 AAA's (which allows it to be so light) and the mouse takes 2 AA's. This was a little annoying for me since I recently purchased a pack of 8 rechargeable AA batteries. Now I have to order a separate pack of AAA's just for the keyboard...

Overall, I give this set a Thumbs Up. If you're in the market for a wireless setup and just want something simple and cheap, give this one a shot! I don't believe you'll be disappointed...
